Thanks

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Zeus is doing very well and currently on a tight watch, the little bugger thinks he is 100% better already, but we are concerned about his stitches. He is already jumping and well, running around. The vet said to lessen his activities, but honestly, how the heck do we stop a cat from doing what he loves doing? As all of you cat lovers very well know, there's no point reasoning with a cat. They always win.

He is a fast healer, but we want to make sure his stitches heal properly.

The Lee County Clowder, thank you very much for the thoughtful offer, despite the dent the vet bill caused our pocket, we are surviving. We just have to make sure that this will be the last. Perhaps, something positive will come out of this experience. I'd like to look at this as a battle won. Mexico can wait. The life of our beloved furkids, wont. Although it sucks that we will miss my dh's sister's wedding, its a decision we had to make.

I look forward to a better year. I wish you all a happy 2011! =)

Zeus Vs Foam Mat Round 2

Yes, he did it again. He swallowed yet another piece of foam mat. Just when you thought you have everything under control, turns out, this cat is sneakier than I give him credit for.

On Christmas morning, I woke up stepping on cat puke. Santa must hate me. Instead of coal, he decided to wake me up with puddles after puddles of cat puke. Right on Christmas day. Such a delightful present huh? And why the hell on Christmas day? When all vets are closed? And E-vet is no longer an option financial wise. With a heavy heart and left with not too many choices, we had to wait after boxing day. So on December 27, we wasted no time and brought Zeus to his vet. We got him there right on time, if we waited a couple more hours, we could have lost him.

Financially we are hurting. It was after christmas pretty much drained our pockets and with my DH currently off work (he works for the union and they currently have no job for his trade right now), it was indeed a nightmare to find out our Zeus needed yet another surgery.

It was a tough situation. We were given two options. Go through with the surgery or say goodbye to Zeus. The latter is not an option for us. Never. Not ever. This surgery means dh and I wont be able to attend his sister's wedding in Mexico in June. Not with the rate our finances is going right now. But, we are not ready to lose him. He is so young and he deserves to live, it is our responsibility to make sure we give him a fighting chance. He was fighting bravely for his life and we are not prepared to take that away from him.

To cut the story short, he had his surgery yesterday and we picked him up this afternoon. Its amazing how fast they bounce back to life. Yesterday, he seriously had death written all over his face and now if you look at him, its like nothing happened. Amazing cat.

So more dollars later, he is back to life. Money may have left our bank, but I will never have it any other way. No animals should die without a fighting chance.

Zeus, the Miracle Cat is back.

Zeus Update 2

Meowdy everybody! I am doing really fine. I hate the taste of the medicine that mom and dad gives me twice a day but the vet said they are good for me. Plus, everytime I take them, mom always give me a special treat. I am still wearing my cone and still not very happy about it but I am learning to maneuvre around a lot better.

Mom showed me the piece of foam mat which almost cost me one of my nine lives. Its quite big, its more than half an inch in size! No wonder it didnt pass through my intestine and got stucked somewhere in there.

My parents are happy that I am starting to behave normal. And by normal, they mean, WAKING THEM UP VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING so they can fill up my food bowl and water dish. I also have the energy now to run to the door everytime it opens. The only thing I cant do yet is jump on the couch to spy on my neighbours, I wonder what they are up to now!

A few more days and the stitches will be taken off by my vet and I wont have to wear this silly cone. Hooray!

Zeus UPDATE

Hi everyone! Sorry we've been missing in action for a while. I had been sick and gave my mom and dad a scare. I like chewing on foam mats and is usually very good at spitting them back out. Unfortunately, one day, I accidentally swallowed a little piece and it blocked my small intestines. The unfortunate incident nearly cost me my life. But fortunately for me, my mom and dad loves me more than their savings. So some $$$ later, I am now on my road to recovery.

It all happened so fast. I started throwing up on Thursday night, mom didnt give much thought about it at first, because I usually throws up for no reason at all. But when I threw up pretty much all day friday, MOM scooped me up, put me in my carriage, drove to the nearest vet and called dad who was out golfing that day.

The vet couldn't do much as they were already closing time, so after taking my XRAYS and bloodtest, he sent me home with my worried mommy. However, DAD wasn't too happy with what the vet did. We woke up very early on Saturday, mom and dad drove to the vet to pick up my xray and blood results and drove straight to the E-vet.

I had a lot of tests done on Saturday and early sunday morning at 1am, the e-vet performed a surgery on me. He managed to retrieve the piece that was blocking my intestine. They kept me for a couple of days and finally last night, mom and dad got to take me home. I'm still on some meds but I am feeling so much better now. Although, I still have to wear the stupid cone. :( Oh well..

If you guys want to add me on FB just search for ZEUS KITTEH. Thanks for reading!

Long Update! Been A Loooongggg Time..

Hello everyone! Sorry it took a long time to post an update about the furbutts. So many things happened and I'm just starting to get back on track. It has been a roller coaster ride for all of us in the past 6 months.

Things were looking up in November up until I received a call that my grampa wasn't doing very well and had been very sick. I mentioned in my first blogpost that grampa was my biggest influence in life. I am an animal lover because of him. He passed away peacefully last November 12, 2009. I waited for Zeus to get neutered (Nov. 13) and I took the first flight to the Philippines that I could get to be with family on November 15 and pay my respect to my beloved grampa. I only spent a week and had to come back the morning after Grampa's burial. It was a long flight back home. I left my relatives once again with a heavy heart, but at the same time I was glad to come back home in Canada and grieve with those who understand me best, my furry kids and my very supportive SO.

December came and we became busy, running everywhere to buy last minute gifts. We had a very good xmas and it was nice to be able to spend it with family. The dogs and the cat were all spoiled. My inlaws didn't forget to give them a little something for xmas. =) They treat them as their grandchildren which is awesome. I have very nice inlaws. I love them.

We've been busy since the beginning of 2010, but we still try to do our best to take the kiddogs to the dogpark whenever we can. They just love it there. I do, too. I meet a lot of really nice people and dogs!

I will try to post as much as I can and as often as I could. Here are some new pictures. =)  Thanks for reading!

taken on Halloween night.  They boys were dressed as DRUNKED PROFESSIONALS and Xena was a purple dogfairy.  Zeus hid in the basement to avoid the embarassment.

this one was taken this past weekend.  Love this pic a lot!
