Thanks

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Zeus is doing very well and currently on a tight watch, the little bugger thinks he is 100% better already, but we are concerned about his stitches. He is already jumping and well, running around. The vet said to lessen his activities, but honestly, how the heck do we stop a cat from doing what he loves doing? As all of you cat lovers very well know, there's no point reasoning with a cat. They always win.

He is a fast healer, but we want to make sure his stitches heal properly.

The Lee County Clowder, thank you very much for the thoughtful offer, despite the dent the vet bill caused our pocket, we are surviving. We just have to make sure that this will be the last. Perhaps, something positive will come out of this experience. I'd like to look at this as a battle won. Mexico can wait. The life of our beloved furkids, wont. Although it sucks that we will miss my dh's sister's wedding, its a decision we had to make.

I look forward to a better year. I wish you all a happy 2011! =)

Zeus Vs Foam Mat Round 2

Yes, he did it again. He swallowed yet another piece of foam mat. Just when you thought you have everything under control, turns out, this cat is sneakier than I give him credit for.

On Christmas morning, I woke up stepping on cat puke. Santa must hate me. Instead of coal, he decided to wake me up with puddles after puddles of cat puke. Right on Christmas day. Such a delightful present huh? And why the hell on Christmas day? When all vets are closed? And E-vet is no longer an option financial wise. With a heavy heart and left with not too many choices, we had to wait after boxing day. So on December 27, we wasted no time and brought Zeus to his vet. We got him there right on time, if we waited a couple more hours, we could have lost him.

Financially we are hurting. It was after christmas pretty much drained our pockets and with my DH currently off work (he works for the union and they currently have no job for his trade right now), it was indeed a nightmare to find out our Zeus needed yet another surgery.

It was a tough situation. We were given two options. Go through with the surgery or say goodbye to Zeus. The latter is not an option for us. Never. Not ever. This surgery means dh and I wont be able to attend his sister's wedding in Mexico in June. Not with the rate our finances is going right now. But, we are not ready to lose him. He is so young and he deserves to live, it is our responsibility to make sure we give him a fighting chance. He was fighting bravely for his life and we are not prepared to take that away from him.

To cut the story short, he had his surgery yesterday and we picked him up this afternoon. Its amazing how fast they bounce back to life. Yesterday, he seriously had death written all over his face and now if you look at him, its like nothing happened. Amazing cat.

So more dollars later, he is back to life. Money may have left our bank, but I will never have it any other way. No animals should die without a fighting chance.

Zeus, the Miracle Cat is back.
